Nicole Gill KPA-CT (she/her)

Owner, Head Dog Whisperer

The current owner of Lucky Dog, Nicole Gill, has been fostering, training, and rehabilitating difficult dogs for over ten years. Her credentials include but are not limited to: competitive handling in confirmation, successful service dog training, rehabilitation of dogs with severe reactivity, specialization in puppy rearing, successful completion of vigorous training and testing at the Karen Pryor Academy, as well as teaching classes at and being a member of the Badger Kennel Club. Nicole has also been mentored by Greg Altman (Lucky Dog’s founder) in the business of dogs for coming on eight years. 

Those who know Nicole best understand she doesn’t have an “off” switch when it comes to dogs. Her entire life is dog-centric and teaching classes, furthering her own education, and rehabilitating dogs IS her “me” time. Nicole also likes to hike with her Golden Retriever Quincy, exercise, and swim.

Julie Gulling (she/her)

Operations Manager

Julie is a Madison-area native who began working at Lucky Dog in 2017 and soon fell in love with the culture and campers at Lucky Dog. Admittedly, mornings are hard for Julie but they're always easier once she sees the excited faces of the dogs entering the building.

graduated with a degree in Cultural Anthropology from UW LaCrosse in 2020.

Elise began working at Lucky Dog in 2022 when her human child began elementary school. When she's not at a hockey or lacrosse game Elise

Greg Altman (he/him)

Founder

Greg founded Lucky Dog in 1998 with a handful of dogs and a dream. His vision was to give our furry friends something to bark about during the day while their owners are at work. After 25 years of building and refining the business, in 2023 Greg stepped back his involvement with Lucky Dog in retirement but remains on staff (you'll usually see him in the afternoons). His credentials include studying under Patricia McConnell, certification from the Volhard Training School, teaching at the Badger Kennel Club, titling several dogs in herding, and certifying dogs in Therapy Dog International. In retirement Greg has returned to his roots with obedience work with his beautifully driven Flat Coat Retriever puppy called Otter and quiet coffee mornings with his ten-year-old Flatcoat, Tres.
